850 MHz Turndown

TELUS is currently refarming the 850MHz band 5 spectrum to enhance our 4G and 5G network. This involves testing and potentially altering how your device uses the 850MHz (band 5) on LTE and the 1900MHz (band 2) on 3G/HSPA.

What does this mean for me?

If you are in an area where the 850 MHz band has been either tested and/or refarmed, your device may experience the following disruptions:

  • Issues with calling, texting, and/or data usage.
  • You may notice slower or no data connectivity.
Ensuring Uninterrupted Service

To avoid disruptions if 850 MHz is turned down in your area, ensure the following:

  • You have a VoLTE-compatible device recognized by Public Mobile.
  • VoLTE is activated on your device.
  • Your device is a non-grey 3G market model capable of connecting to 1900 MHz.
